FX 8350 Upgrade

I want to upgrade from my old FX-8350, I've begun to do more actual work(coding, video editing, rendering), and the old viscera chip isn't cutting it. My budget is about 500-600$ total for all components; cpu, ram, mobo, and fan. Thanks for the help+recommendations.

You're better off just upgrading to 16GB ram, getting water cooling, pairing the fx 8350 with a 1060 6GB and OCing that chip to 5GHz if you can. You'll never get a decent workstation setup for $600.

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

Current Rig (Dominator II): 8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3133 C15, AMD Ryzen 3 1200 at 4GHz, Coolermaster MasterLiquid Lite 120, ASRock B450M Pro4, AMD R9 280X, 120GB TCSunBow SSD, 3TB Seagate ST3000DM001-9YN166 HSD, Corsair CX750M Grey Label, Windows 10 Pro, 2x CoolerMaster MasterFan Pro 120, Thermaltake Versa H18 Tempered Glass.

Where's the GPU, case, PSU and such? Can't build a PC with just a CPU, mobo and ram. PSU that the OP currently has will probably be very old and the case could be trash for all we know. They say the CPU isn't making the cut for rendering, but rendering work is mostly done by the GPU. Storage is probably a hard disk assuming the setup they currently have is the same age as their CPU so that's probably not far off of failing either.

Listen to me here, I have an FX 6300 and that still does a VERY good job and all I had to do was overclock that a little to 4.4GHz.

thats an 8350. probably a 500-600 watt PSU which will work. he can use his old GPU. as he only asked for CPU, Mobo, RAM, and cooling.

@AmIAGamer did you only need CPU, mobo, Ram?

i wont assume what he has in terms of setup. i only provide what the user asks for.

A PSU that will be aging and close to failing. GPU is ancient if it's as old as the CPU and that's probably the reason why their PC is doing crap at rendering, not the CPU. In fact, a GTX 1060 pairs very nicely with the FX 8350 without much bottleneck (4% bottleneck according to thebottlenecker) therefore emphasising how the user's problem lies with the GPU, not the CPU as if there were problems with the CPU's speed it would not pair well with a MODERN GPU.

A decent PSU could last a lifetime, mine is running over 6 years at this point, touch wood.

We don't know what GPU they have, they've only asked about upgrading CPU and related components.

Also, you keep arguing that this CPU will hold up fine but everything else just has to be trash because it was bought a long time ago, what's that about.

Well we don't know the specs of the PC, other than its CPU. I argue that the fx8350 will hold up fine because I've seen one in action in my friend's PC, he has a 1070 and it hardly even bottlenecks and can still game really well. PSU I'm assuming they got around the same time as the CPU was released, which would be 7 years ago now and a 7 year old PSU can get quite unreliable should you choose the wrong brand. GPU is definitely gonna be terrible if it is a GPU from when the CPU was released as most GPUs back in 2011 were just hitting 1GHz core clocks and most only had 1GB of VRAM.
