What GPU should I get for 1440p?

Daniel Z.

So long story short, I got a 1440p monitor a while back and my 960 can only run it at low-medium. I mostly play War Thunder and sometimes TF2 or SW Battlefront 2015. I would like to go high-max and also be able to use GPU encoding on OBS. I was looking at the 1060, 580, and 1070. Thanks!

A GTX 1070 or 1070 Ti is good for 1440p gaming atm.

1070 and up is what you want. A 980ti if you can find one for a decent price is near identical in terms of performance with a 1070.

It really depends on the FPS and graphic settings you're after.  For instance AAA titles on ultra at 144+hz will need a 1080ti

A 1060 should be enough on the titles I play, right?

1070 or 1070Ti, or a used 980Ti to save a buck.

I am thinking used 980Ti or 1060, 1070 is out of my budget.

If you are doubting between a 980Ti and a 1060 6 GB (whetever you do, don't get the 3 GB version), I would go for the 980Ti.

A used 980Ti hands down if a 1070 is out of your budget. They're pretty similar in performance, for now at least.

Make sure your PSU can handle it though since it is a top-tier Maxwell card with a TDP of 250W.
