Should i wait for 11 series GPUs?

Hi guys i would like to ask if it's better for me to buy a gpu right now (looking at 1080ti) OR should I wait for the 11 series gpu that's "rumored" to be announced on july 30

as of the moment i dont have a gpu cause i just started building one so if i were to wait i would have to use my cpu's integrated gpu

heres my pc build:

cpu: i7-8700k

mobo: asus strix z370-e gaming

psu: seasonic 850fx (focus plus gold) OR corsair AX860i

RAM: corsair dominator PT 16gb 3000MHz CL15

storage: samsung 960 evo 500Gb, WD blue 2tb

monitor: acer xb271HU 1440p 144-165Hz display

so my build is gonna be focused on playing AAA games like Fallout 76 on 1440p on mid-high settings

should i wait or should i buy now

thanks for helping out

Looking at previous GPU releases, the 11 series might not offer a huge performance improvement over the 10 series, but it's most likely to be more efficient.

If you want the absolute best then maybe wait and see, else I suggest you buy the 1080Ti

If anyone disagrees please let me know why, I'd like to know your thoughts

Frankly, if if your goal is 1440p at medium - high settings, get a 1080 Ti. It's still a great card (not like you can get something much better) and it should (in theory) serve you for few years.
If you want to save money, you can get 1070 now and start saving for 1180/1180 Ti.

At the moment we don't even know when next gen cards will be announced and what will the performance look like.

Personally, I don't expect a big bump in performance.

Main reason to wait would be a small potential for 10 series cards to drop a few bucks in price.

I am in the same dilemma, but I can wait even after September.  If you are craving for games now and do not care about resale value, then buy a 1080ti now. If you can wait -even more so for after market coolers- and craziness in the market after a new release.... then sure wait. Again, nothing is certain when it comes to the release date.

Seeing as you have a complete build with no GPU, you're pretty much stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either buy a 1050, 1050ti, 1060 or a 580 right now and use your computer at lower settings until the next generation. Or blow all your money now on a 1070, 1080 or a 1080Ti.

I very much doubt Nvidia is gonna release the 11 series as substantially more powerful than the 10 series graphics cards. Furthermore, if it is using GDDR6 memory i very much doubt it's gonna be great value even compared to the 10 series graphics cards.

Also, Seasonic makes the best power supply units in case you had not made up your mind regarding PSU.

Motherboard: Asus X570-E
CPU: 3900x 4.3GHZ

Memory: G.skill Trident GTZR 3200mhz cl14

GPU: AMD RX 570

SSD1: Corsair MP510 1TB

SSD2: Samsung MX500 500GB

PSU: Corsair AX860i Platinum

If you're not planning to game immediately, wait till July 30th. If they don't announce anything, buy a 1070Ti/1080/1080Ti. If they do, then wait a bit more for the 11/2080.

If I were you I would just get a 1050 or 1050 Ti right now as a placeholder so you can do some gaming at least, since you don't even have a GPU atm.

@Mickey1234 , I'm going to be honest with you, If you need the most powerful and don't want to feel regret, sure, wait. But when it comes to today's games, the 1080ti is no slouch. Will the 1180ti be better? Sure. But at this exact moment, there's not a game out that my 1080ti can't handle easily. Sure there are a couple when I play at 4k I need to turn the shadow resolution down a little or perhaps I need to kill the anti-aliasing to get the full solid 60fps constant. But for the most part, that 1080ti handles everything fine. The only notable title I have that needs settings to be tweaked a little for solid 60fps is Final Fantasy 15  at 4k.

nvidia is releasing 4k 144hz monitors in august, what single card can max that out right now?

put it this way, a chip maker has leaked about the chip order, ram makers saying they completed a huge ddr6 order, and now we have cooling. their coming soon, as i said earlier and as you can google and read, nvidia releases card silently alot.  this is whole new architecture not just a gtx 1090, so their should be a bump in performace, as thgis isnt the same as the 10 series.

no card can even max out 1440p at 144hz...so even 100FPS at 4K will still take years to come around...unless you play games on medium settings, and older titles.

maybe so, but if the few articles are correct i've seen 16g ddr6 with a core clock around 1800 should do pretty good to come close.

Im here with a bumb ass gpu, i could upgrade now, but id rather wait to just see, is all im saying. Not saying a 1080ti is a slouch, itd blow the doors off my gpu, but as people say, they have to turn settings down to get 60fps...why wouldnt this new series handle 4k ultra at 60fps+? im just saying hold off he asked hold off or buy now, and trying to give good reasons. I know id be mad af buying a ti now and they release em in a month or 2.
