Cooler for Fractal Node 202

dawidyadhana

Hi, so I’m going to build a new pc with Fractal Node 202. I don’t want to use the intel stock cooler. At first I want the cryrorig C7 but it’s unavailable everywhere in my place. So, is there any alternative than the c7. Thanks in advance

hey fellow Southeast Asian...

Ok i found another alternative, since the max cooler height in the Node 202 is 56mm i found this Noctua L9i cooler that with the fan attached measures at 37mm height

https://noctua.at/en/nh-l9i

so this could be an alternative and since Noctua is known as a good air cooler manufacturer this tiny cooler has actually been chosen by many people that wants to cool their CPU on a tiny rig

Mention me if you want to summon me sooner or later

Looks like the Node 202 has a max cpu cooler height of 56mm. That's really not much. What CPU are we trying to cool in it?

Noctua L9i. Cryorig's C7 Cu looks promising, but I'm not having hopes on it since the standard C7 is very loud and just changing the heatsink material wont make it quiet.

Why not use the stock cooler?

I agree with WoodenMarker's post above. Your CPU isn't even a K series, so no need to get an aftermarket cooler unless you're trying to make your PC as quiet as possible.

I was going to recommend the C7 (I use it in my PC, keeps everything nice and cool, and is fairly quiet.), but since it's not available near you, that's not much of an option.

Some others to check out are the Noctua NH-L9i and Be Quiet! Shadow Rock LP. I'm not sure on their performance in comparison to the C7, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be too far off.

Honestly, unless you're overclocking (which you'd need a K series CPU for), the stock cooler is fine, it's just a little louder and warmer than other options. (Though I wouldn't recommend overclocking much with any of these low profile coolers, you're best off leaving it at stock or with a very slight overclock (without increasing voltage much if at all))

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

  • 1 year later...

I'm writing in this thread to all of You who looking for best cooler for Node 202 and reads all threads on many sites like I did one month ago.
I have Intel i5 9600K on ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX and bought Nocuta NH-L9i - You have to be very careful with this cooler to mount it in the right way. First I mounted it in the way that RAM covered all side of the Noctua and air can't escaped that direction. I had to rotate the Cooler that air had maximum space to escape from it.
I bought 2x8GB RAM modules with normal high and beautiful radiator on it, and it was bad idea. They fits hard into the slots side by side and just touches the radiator. Look for low profile RAM without or with very thin radiator.
Temperatures on NH-L9i was very high, so I ordered bigger, optional fan for it. It was better, but not satisfying and there ware lots of space above the cooler to top of Node 202. I started to looking for something else.
Scythe Big Shuriken 2 is not available in my country, and Cryorig C7 is only 47mm, so lots of space unused in the case.
Then I found SilverStone Argon SST-AR06. It's 58mm high (same as BIG Shuriken 2), 4 heat pipes and radiator from top to bottom. Fan is as same loud (quiet) as this from Noctua and the temperatures are the same with original fan and the fan from NH-L9i. I stay with Noctua fan, because it has less vibrations. The SilverStone fits perfectly on ASRock. It's touching second, small power plug, but everything is grate. 1mm more from heat pipes side and it won't fit. Node 202 closes perfectly. You don't have to dismount any dust filter or so.
I recommend this cooler very much.
You can find the same post (copy&paste) on some other forums, so maybe it helps someone.
