New Monitor Help

JohanAngel

Hello everyone,

I'm in the market for a new monitor. I already have a 3 monitor setup, but they are all pretty average, so I was looking to substitute only 1 of them, the main one, to optimize it for gaming. Of course, I would like it to be 27" to go with the other 2 monitors that I already have. Since I have a 1080 I was looking something with G-Sync and with at least 120Hz not less than 1440p with around 1ms response rate. After this, I don't really understand much about monitors so I would like some help if you guys could.

My budget is around 500-600 $ so I was leaning on this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N11QIYW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 which seems to be pretty good for my needs.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Try looking at BenQ monitors on Amazon or for a good budget monitor try looking at AOC branded monitors. :)

yeah, I tried, but Benq does not make 27" G-Sync monitors. They are my #1 brand when it comes so monitors.

That Acer Predator monitor you're going for sounds like a solid choice! It has everything you want in a new monitor.

Yeah, but I'm not an expert in like contrast, angles, brightness and all of those things :P

Sorry my ignorance, but why is this better? I read that TN is usually better for gaming, especially at low delay and high FPS.

IPS panels have wider viewing angles and colours are just way better than they are on TN panels, but it is true that TN panels have lower latency and response times in general.

I'd personally go for the IPS panel even if it costs a bit more.

IPS panels give a much more accurate (nicer) color profile. There's also less color shift side to side.

Delay (I'm assuming you mean response time) has many more things at play than simply the panel. You also have to look at the processing time.

Websites like this are helpful: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_s2716dg.htm#response_times

This is for a Dell monitor, which also meets the requirements you're after.

Ok, I understand better now, thanks. My question now is, at that price, isn't there anything better out there? @dizmo @Rasbir Singh

Not with GSync, unless you want to go higher.
