Forza Horizon 4 confirmed running at Native 4K on Xbox One X

AlTech

Microsoft showed off their new Forza Horizon 4 at E3 this year and it has been confirmed that the game will run at native 4K (3840x2160) on Xbox One X.

Microsoft started off E3 2018 with a bang, taking the wraps off of the latest entry in its Forza Horizon series called Forza Horizon 4. The game takes place in Britain and features numerous enhancements over its predecessor. However, what was most surprising was the announcement that the game would run at 60 FPS on Xbox One X.

Digital Foundry was able to test out the title at E3 2018 and concluded that Forza Horizon 4 achieved native 4K resolution on Microsoft's new console. A 60 FPS option will be added in later which will probably allow you to toggle between the two settings. It's unclear if this means that the game will run at 1080p 60 FPS or support a lower resolution because it's an incredibly demanding experience.

I'm guessing the 60fps option will be running at 1080p although I'm surprised they couldn't manage 4K60 although that's probably more to do with the CPU than anything else.

And of course the game will retail for $59.99 on October 2nd.

Personally, I think that the Forza franchise should take a break.

Loved Horizon 3. I plan on buying the $100 Ultimate Edition of Horizon 4 for PC. Forza Horizon 3 at 4K Ultra is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. And the gameplay was really fun.

Just upgraded my HTPC to W10 to play FH3, hoping a 4690K and 1060 6GB holds up well on 4K. Planning on getting the ultimate edition of FH4 as well.

Native 4K? I wasn't surprised to see that, although let's see if it all stages will run it like that. Thumbs up to devs for this one.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

The recent Forza Horizon games actually are though. FH4 is more demanding than FH3.

In most cases you're right.  Most racing games just have a small track to render.  But Forza Horizon is open world and that open world is your racetrack.

At 1080p with my GTX 1080 I get between 60 - 80fps.  I have yet to test Forza 7, but with its smaller tracks I should be hitting 100+ given the benchmarks I looked at.

at least it doesn't remind me Ridge Racer like forza does, so it has that going for it.

Open world racing games are everything but easy to run. There is a reason why Forza Horizon has half the frame rate of the Motorsport series.

I have Forza Horizon 2, and it's a damn fun game. The "story" is a little weak, but the loose structure of the events/tournaments keeps it interesting. I'd eventually like to pick up the rest of the series.
