Recommended Cooling?! i3 Build.

Go to solution Solved by Skiiwee29,

if you dont game, then yea stock cooling will be 100% adequate. Both fans and cooler will be just fine for web surfing and keep you safe.

Good morning fellow LinusTechTippers,

I am building my very first pc and I wanted some insight as to how much cooling I would need for my build. I am not gaming on this pc as I use my PS4 for that and as such I currently do not need a graphics cars. The build of the system is as below:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RmQWcY

My question really is if the 2 stock fans that come with the EVGA case will be enough for cooling? As well as the stock CPU fan. Don’t plan on running heavy tasks as well. Would you guys buy additional case/cpu fans?

Any input would be great! Thank you! xD

Stock cooler is fine. I would get 1x8gb ram instead so that you have an upgrade path to 16gb and also get a better psu like the CX450 instead. Evga's 400w N1 is pretty crap, to the point where I wouldn't trust using it with any pc.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Use the stock cooler unless you want complete silence. You also don't need additional fans.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Thank you for the recommendation for the PSU, was looking at it and it's quite cheap. I'll make sure to get a quality one, thanks for your input!

Stock cooler is completely fine if you're not gaming. You can always pick up a Cyrorig C7 in the future if you feel you need more oomph for cooling your CPU.

Thank you for the recommendation!

Even gaming, stock will probably be fine. Unless one plans on overclocking, or potentially abusing AVX for many hours on end, the stock cooler is adequate enough where you needn't rush out to buy a better one just to finish your build.

You are correct. if he was going to be doing more intensive tasks, only change I would have recommended was increasing case cooling. But hes really not doing much so everything as is at stock are good to go.
