I'm sorry mate but there is no miracle in here, you have to buy yourself a more up-to-date graphics card.

The only real solution here is either play less demanding games that your GPU can handle, or get a new GPU.

That's because the CPU primarily takes the data sent to it, calculates what needs to be rendered, and sends that info to the GPU, which does the lion's share of the work (e.g. the actual rendering). It does however help to have a fairly powerful CPU if you plan on high end SLI/Crossfire; do a lot of video encoding; or engage in any other calculation intense work such as 3D modeling, etc. But you're only using your setup for gaming. CPUs specialize in raw calculations, GPUs specialize in graphics rendering work. GPUs can of course calculate as well, but it needs the help of the CPU when it's busy doing a lot of rendering. Game processing is done in micro steps using buffers, the result of which has the illusion of being simultaneous, but in reality it's all very quick and efficient sequences of data strings. Therefore, your underpowered radeon hd 5450 will bottleneck your whole system even though you have a decent i7 2600.

That's correct. :)

I'm afraid that's the only solution to improve your gaming experience.

People buy stuff after listening to the guy in the pub...

People post here asking for help after it catches fire.

They should do the opposite, because the guy in the pub has more change to put out the fire!

The hd 5450 is literally the slowest GPU of it's generation , and that was in 2009 ...

I'm afraid you'll need to get a proper GPU to get stable frame rates . Try buying a second hand hd 7970 , hd 7950 or even a 7870 . They're very cheap on the used market.

It's a shame to par such a powerful CPU/RAM config with that card tbh..

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

Considering its the same as my old laptop's HD5650 (1GB), and that 1GB was used heavily in World of Tanks/Warships, with Fortnite being even more graphically intensive by far.......just get something better as even back in 2010 it was best suited to light gaming and use as a display card.

Spoiler

I had actually managed to overclock the MR HD5650 to almost match a reference HD5450-laptop silicon FTW

im surprised you even maneged to run stuff, some of the HD5000 series stuff is just up to DX10.1 so im surprised you havent run into problems beyond performance so far. anywat that GPU is a pice of shit for 1080p and questionable for 720p even, you should really replace it for something with a bigger framebuffer on a more modern architercture

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Look on the second hand market for one of the suggested graphics cards and you’ll be fine :-)

Basically “anything” is better then your hd 5450

While true, I don't trust ebay at the moment for graphics cards due to both scammers and crypto miners selling off overworked boards.
