Most of my mates surprisingly still use Windows 7 though.

Windows 10 can still be finicky... (esp if you've customized it and then in due time, has conflicts causing headaches)

Some have zero issues.

I had issues in early days,.. considered early days that it's Win10-Beta,..and I'll jump ship at a later date.

My ONLY reason to jump would be DX12 (with my i7 4790K at 4.5Ghz and a GTX1070) but we all know how DX12 has fared thus far...
So I can wait a little longer even still.... until a DX12 only game I fancy becomes available.

 

*Many machines at home (new or old, always run Win7/8) and if I build a new machine, it gets a custom start menu 8.1 system to start with, testing WinX at customer discretion or my own if I choose to.

Keys are cheap,.. so depending on your needs,...

My cousin is using Windows 8.1 on his laptop and desktop. But I'm still using Windows 7, I have a HTPC with Windows 10 and a netbook dualbooting 7 and 10. Everyone else in my family is using Windows 7. On win 8.1 and sometimes on 7 I install ClassicShell for the start menu.

I use Windows 7 on my laptop, XP on my Athlon 64 and MP systems, and 10 on my desktop.

personally I find all versions of win 8 to be crap. While there are certainly issues with win 10, I personally have had no troubles with it and with exception of the settings redesign, I love it so far

Edit, One thing i have experienced is that win 10 doesn't like god mode, the name won't appear and you can't rename it

GodMode is a hidden system folder that searching goes to look at for Control Panel items. There was no real need for anyone to actually see it other than if you just wanted to save a few clicks on Control Panel to get to where you want. And if you were using the keyboard in any way to look in the GodMode folder, why not just use the search feature?

 

And it's a misnomer anyway.

I think the search feature isn't used enough.

 

I have almost zero need for the All Programs section of the Start Menu because search would look in there and all I had to do was type up a partial name for the app and press enter without thinking too much about it.

 

Which is also why Windows 8 didn't bother me as much.

i've had plenty of times though where the search feature didn't work at all. not necessarily for settings, but i've searched for files and it not find them and i just go searching in folders myself and find it. I typically avoid searching since it hasn't helped me much in the past

I don't use search for that because I organize my files well enough to begin with so I don't bother having it index my data. 

 

But otherwise it works fine when looking in the Start Menu items. At least for me anyway

Same here, but i've tried using it in the past with no success finding even programs

I use Windows 8.1 on my desktop, and I love it. It works well, never crashes, updates are predictable(usually patch Tuesday), and it has the kernel efficiency of 10.
