Chute in supermarket

AskTJ

Ok, so I am not sure if this is the right section, but it seemed the most appropriate one to me. I was at the supermarket a few minutes ago, and while I was loading the bags on the trolley, I noticed this chute with buttons on it. I had visited another store about 15 minutes before they were closing, and I saw an employee putting cash in a bag and putting it in the chute.

What are they for?

hi.

It's a cash drop. They likely enter the amount of cash they are entering, drop it into the chute, and then it drops into a safe that only certain people have. It's so that managers don't need to be around to the end of the shift and the money is secure.
