570x vs shift x

Heya guys! planning a new build for the summer.

My build will consist of a 8700k and a 1080ti.

I will be fully custom water-cooling it. Not sure if I should stick with the shift x and the z370 strix board or a 570x and a ROG x399 board. (also still considering a thread ripper, but not too sure since threadripper2 is coming out soon)

Thanks for the help!

an i7-8700K should be on a z370 motherboard. X370 motherboards are only compatible with AMD Ryzen cpu.

How do you plan to use the system?

What is the budget? In what currency?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

X370 is for Ryzen chips. If you mean X299, that's for Intel's enthusiast/workstation chips on Socket 2066. You mean Z370, right?

In that case go for the 570X, better case overall and you don't have to deal with all the compromises of ITX

You have a 5820K. You don't have much need of an upgrade period.

All Z370 motherboards work with i7-8700K.

whats the difference between a 500D and a 570X other than the extra glass on the 570X (and the price)

Different exterior styling. 500D has Commander Pro that allows for software controlled RGB fans.
