Blast from the past(CRT tv/receiver doesn't work properly)

So,before anyone gets the wrong idea,no,this isn't my tv set,my neighbour asked me to try and fix it.

We're dealing with a Nokia brand TV and a TV star antenna receiver. The main problem is that the tv Displays bars moving top-to-bottom .This led me to believe the problem was the connection of the Scart cable ,so I resecured it and it worked for a while...then after a minute or so it went black with no sign of response at all. Then I decided to ditch my theory and blame the receiver,so I turned that on and off and after a couple attempts it works...again only for a minute or two.

At the end ,I've crafted a button combo of sorts that ensures it works for atleast a minute or two...Am I missing something? Is there something I failed to try?    Or is this finally old age catching up to the gear, thanks in advance!
