Cryorig H7 Alternative?

ABehery

Hello,

I have been meaning to upgrade from a stock cooler for quite a while now, I have a R7 1700 OC'd to 3.6GHz. And since summer is coming, I'm starting not to like the temps, plus I want to push the OC more.

I'm searching for a cooler for around $30, which is the price for a Cryorig H7 ($35), is there any better alternatives to it sub $40? Would I even need more?

Thank you!

It's the best in that price range. Why do you want an alternative?

Was just wondering if there was a better alternative for the same price range.

It overtook the Hyper 212 Evo as budget king awhile back. Be Quiet makes one that performs around the same, but I can't remember what it's called.

If you're willing to spend a little more money, Cryorig makes a better cooler. Under $40 though, nothing beats the H7.

It's the best 3 heatpipe cooler on the market.  It's more efficient than the 212 evo and Gamaxx 400, which are 4 heatpipe.

Those I just mentioned can be found cheaper, but there's nothing really better in the same price range.

This. The RGB version of it (H7 Quad Lumi, I think) has four pipes, but it's overpriced IMO, and only the logo is RGB. The fans are a static white.

Any of the Cryorig ones built in the last 6ish months are AM4 compatible, but a guarantee that it's compatible is nice. If you get incredibly unlucky and end up with an old H7, you have to request a different mounting bracket, which is free, but also takes time to arrive.

Original triple heatpipe H7 has somewhat quirky installation with need to tighten screws from bottom side of motherboard while holding heatsink (+balancing motherboard) on its place.

https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/6958/cryorig-h7-cpu-cooler-review/index5.html

Beyond that it's certainly excellent for its price.

Thermalright Macho 120 SBM is another very good for the price with conventional mounting and very good cooling performance per noise.

https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/7810/thermalright-macho-120-sbm-cpu-cooler-review/index6.html

Scythe Mugen 5 again is pretty much as good as you'll get for below 140mm fan heatsinks without possible conflicts with uppermost PCI-e slot.

(or DIMMs or covering motherboard's mounting screws...)

Rev B has SCMG-5100 as product code.

SCMG-5000 is original Mugen 5/Rev A.

Though Scythe will send free AM4 mounting kit for proof of purchase of cooler and AM4 mobo or Ryzen CPU.

Thanks a lot everyone, looks like I'll be going with the H7, I'm just a bit worried about the down time waiting for the AM4 bracket, since all the reviews say that It does not come with one.

USA, I'm using Fractal Design Focus G Mini (Micro ATX) and G.Skill Trident Z rams.

My friend got one a few months ago from Amazon and it was AM4 compatible out of the box. It's not a separate bracket.

You can check with the seller to see if the cooler comes with the AM4 mounts out of the box. Depending on the store, they may be stocked with older or newer H7 units.

You probably don't need more than a H7 for cooling.

The Freezer 33 eSports ONE performs similarly, is a bit cheaper, and comes with AM4 mounting hardware out of the box: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/P8KcCJ/arctic-freezer-33-esports-one-blackgreen-cpu-cooler-acfre00045a

It also comes in more neutral colors like black / white: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/yHNv6h/arctic-freezer-33-esports-one-blackwhite-cpu-cooler-acfre00043a

If you want something slightly better and quieter, you could get a Kotetsu: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7998TW/scythe-cpu-cooler-scktt1000

The AM4 mounts for it can be shipped from Scythe for free with AM4 motherboard / cooler invoices or ordered along with from Amazon if you don't want to wait: https://www.amazon.com/Mounting-Scythe-Kotetsu-Tatsumi-SCAM4-1000A/dp/B06XR7337R/ref=pd_sim_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B06XR7337R&pd_rd_r=20D4B0W0BGNN72DCM50F&pd_rd_w=skzJ0&pd_rd_wg=QmCU6&psc=1&refRID=20D4B0W0BGNN72DCM50F
