Xbox Adaptive Controller a 'first' for disabled gamers

Something cool... Microsoft is creating the Xbox Adaptive Controller (XAC). It's a new gamepad that features 19 3.5mm input jacks which you can plug all sorts of add-ons into.

Pretty cool, I wonder how big the market for it is though. I know of course there will be kids that are unable to play with a normal controller but I don't know if there are enough people to make this a justifiable product

That's an F in the profile pic

That's because there were a lot of people whining Microsoft was paying attention to disabled gamers - better to have no comments at all, than users intent on telling the world how much they hate those with disabilities being given equal rights.

The'yre not really headphone jacks; they use the 3.5mm connector to custom configure the D-pad and other functions seen on an XB1 controller.

Putting my cynical hat on, maybe they are hoping for a innovation to come out of this they can sell to able bodied gamers.

Maybe they did some market research and there is a large enough potential market for it. Especially considering it will almost certainly work with PC too, and could help some disable people use non-gaming applications they may not be able to easily use currently.

Maybe Microsoft just wants to be nice, though seems unlikely.

I could see this being used by amateur hobists to make some crazy controllers.
- Calling it now. Someone will make a Rube Goldberg Machine using this that plays a level or section of some game.
