Bought M.2 SSD and it won't fit

Hello there people, new using this Forum. After many troubles my old ssd broke and I got my wallet and bought a brand new Samsung 960 Evo M.2 Nvme SSD 500GB  DAMN.  I informed myself and it should fit into my m.2 slot. I have a Asus Z170-P Mainboard. In the manual and on the PDF it says M.2 pcie 3.0 4x lanes so it should support the nvme format. It's also listet on the supported devices list . I know it should be inserted on a 30° Angle but still it won't go in completely as it should. What could be the problem? M.2 slot broken? I don't want to push way to hard in. Help I want my 200€ to get workin.

Have you tried spitting on it, and jamming it in there? I have seen that work in some porn videos before.

I don't think something broken, but possible that you need to give a push like with ram. But also don't forget to check if the fittings are aligned correctly .

Make sure you are using the right slot and you have the SSD oriented the right way.  The slots are keyed, like most other slots on the mainboard.

My general experience with handling PC hardware is that sometimes you have to use more force than you are comfortable with, especially if you do it for the first time.

 

That being said, I don't remember my m.2 giving much resistance but then again my definition of much resistance might be different from yours.
