Uu can you put the font size to like 12 or something? I am perfectly capable of reading more than one word per line, as is pretty much everyone else -_- anyway Valve can do whatever but I can't say I agree with them if they want to pull games for nudity, that's just stupid

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

What is worse: A game that has some suggestive or sexual artwork, or a game that encourages the player to be a hateful and gruesome mass-murderer of civilians? In fact, what is wrong with some video game sexuality at all? Should sexuality be banned from the movies and TV shows that are made and distributed from popular retailers?

 

Maybe, like with Hatred, this is another decision that is happening without his immediate awareness. But otherwise, how can Gabe Newell be so big of a hypocrite?

 

Did he suddenly become a religious puritan, and now he's imposing that personal conversion onto everybody that uses his service (if so, then why is GTA and all other violent games not also slated for removal)? If he becomes Amish, is Steam going to suddenly disappear entirely?

i think there is a different between using nudity or sex as part of the game, as part of the story, it comes natural... and presenting nudity as a central focus of the game, playable nudity if you like. So i don't think it's fair to put GTA or Witcher in the same boat as Mutiny!! or HoneyPop for example.

 

I have nothing against either, but they aren't the same thing.

Bad move on Valve's part to let themselves be bullied: sure they're the premiere digital distribution platform on PC but honestly? I can easily see them losing a big chunk of the AAA business to the likes of Origin, Uplay or even Microsoft store: If AAA publishers decide 'We don't need valve' most players will just get the big title releases on whatever platform they select.

 

Fuck they already do for extremely popular titles from the likes of Blizzard or EA.

 

What Valve should remember is that while the big publishers certainly help the platform their long term business should actually be from the smaller games, like the ones they're going after now. That's what keeps many people on the platform: come from the big titles but stay for the smaller ones. Without them they would basically have nothing to distinguish themselves from the aforementioned storefronts.

Excuse the gloating but I totally called it again: Another major publisher (Activision) will probably, slowly, withdraw from steam starting with Black Ops 4:

Most of them require the user to input their date of birth but Valve doesn't attempt to verify the creditable of it

Steam should just have a section for 18+ games. by default it's not even anywhere, you have to enable it in settings

I'm really wondering what they are actually going to do.

They won't be able to draw a clear line and if they do decide to draw one, it will piss people off.

 

There's already a demand for games and VN's that are a bit more risky than steam allows, some devs are already pushing the limit. The only thing that will happen if they do decide to draw a line is increase the potential for another platform to step in and fill that demand.

Valve is starting to piss me off royaly. Everytime I try to watch a game on their store, I need to go through an age verification. Why isn't age baked into your profile, so the store can auto verify? It's so stupid.

 

My point? Well with age verification baked into the profile, you could add a setting for NSFW content. Like accept nude games/sex or not. It's idiotic to outright wipe out sexual content on the entire platform. Does this mean Metro Last Light will be banned as well? Or hell, The WItcher 3 is much worse in terms of nudity. 

 

And what are people on about? A private company cannot censor others? So newspapers cannot censor news? Of course they can.

I'm going to guess these "visual novels" go through ESRB certification? If they are rated AO then I don't see an issue as most retailers won't sell AO games. But if they are rated M then it's an issue. As they should treat all games with in a rating class the same. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
