Also it would be nice if you put your overclock settings in so people could see the rough numbers needed for an overclock like that.

I wish i could get get my 3770k up to over 5ghz as well :( I'm stuck at 4.6 ghz and I already get around 70 ish Celsius so I don't feel like pushing it any further

He's using the Noctua NH-D14 HSF

He can handle upping to voltage to I'd say around ~H80i level.

Im using a Noctua NH-D14. I was able to upvolt to 1.4v and I still couldn't go higher than 4.2GHz. It was VERY unstable. Im currently just using OC Genie on my GD45

I know that autopilot overclocking is generally frowned upon but using it to get started is usually really helpful. Linus did a video on it. It usually overvolts so you can squeeze a little more out of what you're set at when you're done.

Despite seeing actual proof of it working before my eyes, I refuse to use it! I just cant trust it, i'd rather waste 3 days with no social contact upping the frequency 0.5Hz at a time.

The problem is overclocking is very personal, my CPU is my pride and joy because it overclocks like a beast, but someone with the very next CPU could only get to 4Ghz, settings dont really help because what one cpu likes, another may not. They're very fussy.

In CPU-Z it's called Bus Speed, it's right below multiplier.

I guess you just got one from a bad batch. It happens sometimes, my old 2600k couldn't get past 4.6GHz with 1.5v (the highest you could safely go without significant CPU degradation on SB), and I had spent so much time trying to watercool it. Keep researching because I'm sure somebody in the motherboards section can help you way better than I can.

I usually keep it at 4.8 Ghz, but I just loaded my 5Ghz OC profile. I've hit 5.1Ghz but I really don't like keeping my voltage so high.

i5-2500k @ 5ghz, high temps but stable. with a better cooler i can get my i5-3570k up there too, its been OCing like a dream
