hi guys am planing a build and dont know if i should get a haswell or wait for Skylake but not sure how good it would be

We don't know how well Skylake will preform. We're enthusiasts, not magicians/gypsies/fortunetellers.

Just go with Haswell. Haswell didn't improve much on Ivy which didn't improve much on Sandy...

Skylake won't be released till 2015 so I would just go with Haswell. There hasn't been a big performance increase from the last 2 generations to be honest.

You'll be fine with Haswell, but we have no clue on how good skylake will be

Actually Skylake might be released during 2015 I guesss so as well, I know the rumored 2011-3 Haswell-E may come out during Q3-2014 and Broadwell is probably gonna be released either Q2 or Q3

i'll make a prediction: skylake will have a lower tdp than haswell but a slightly higher ipc and overclock like a bulldozzer on an itx motherboard. based on my prediction i would go haswell.

Agree with Haswell. Haswell has huge swings on good and bad overclockers, but at least it overclocks like a beast (if you get a good chip) on the cheapest Z87 you can buy.

 

Broadwell will probably have to do away with on die vrm (due to heat). They haven't decided yet. That means you will probably need a kick butt motherboard to OC the chip again like Ivy. Skylake. Hell our chips could be soldered on the MB at that point and we might have to pay for higher binnings of chips with locked clocks to "overclock".

 

Smaller die = more heat = harder to cool = my prediction
