Not hating since I have a lot of RGB stuff, including RAM.

As long as you install the DIMMs on slots 2 and 4 I don't think the Dark Rock 4 is going to block it. If it does, you should be able to move the fan aside a bit to make room. Most air coolers allow this.

Hi again!

So you saying that 1170 will be par on the 1080 if the 12 series is a refresh?

Last I heard the 11 series isn't as big of a leap over the 10 series as the 10 series was over the 900... if that makes sense. Therefore if that's true the 1080 will slop in between the 1170 and the 1160.

Was over the 900 what does that mean?

It’ll most likely be announced in Q3 or Q4 of this year, then available for sale in Q1 next year.

from what i can see, the 1070 was announced around the 6th of may and got available for sale on the 10th of june. but remember, this is another card, so things can be different this time

This is all speculation, as nobody really knows. There are 2 possibilities:

1. Either Nvidia stick to their regular release schedule, which would mean new cards would come out around June 2018.

OR

2. Nvidia is delaying the release, because they are now so far ahead of AMD, they have no reason to manufacture more expensive / newer cards. They are making a ton of money just selling you the same old 1070's and 1080's. Production costs have probably gone down by now, (higher yields and stuff?). So in that case, you probably wont see a new release until later this year or even early next year.

I am hoping for #1, but afraid it might be #2, seeing how arrogant Nvidia is getting lately in their superior position (ahem GPP ahem).

You might be able to purchase one in July, however if we take the past years for example you'll be limited to the Founders Edition straight from nVidia.

I'd like to be able to play 1080p 120fps all games for 3 Years

Mostly multiplayer though

Should I buy an evga 1080sc for that or do I wait for the 1170/2070

My specs:

2600x

16gb ram at 3000 mhz

Depends on what you have right now, and whether it is still sufficient for your needs right now.

I would wait if you can wait, the newer cards might be just around the corner. And historically, the 1170 would be on par with the 1080 for just around the same price as the 1070. Although prices do keep getting higher...

Assume it won’t. Given the last three gens and the current scaling of growth/performance.

I'd assume it sits between the 1160 and 1170 like the 780 did with the 970 and 960, and the 980 did with the 1060 and the 1070.

It's all speculation.  It could very well be the case, but it is also likely a refresh, so maybe not so much.  It is said to have GDDR6, so memory speed will be a determining factor I think.  We will just have to wait and see.

Another thing that I had to ask was,

I'm new to streaming/I would like to stream on that. Pc

Should I go for the 2700 or stick to the 2600x?

It's just a 60$ increase in price

The 2700 with an overclock is a better bet if you are planning on streaming and using CPU encoding. 2700x is the pick of this gen if you can afford to stretch that far

If the upcoming ones are a refresh

If Nvidia stay true to form, the 1170 should be roughly the same as a 1080TI

11/20 series will probably just be a pascal refresh from what I've heard. If you're only wanting 1080p I'd just go with a 1050ti or a 1060, they're neat for 1080p. 1060 can handle 1440p in some instances too.

Not at 120 fps for the next three years though. Resolution isn't everything.

Are you okay with turning settings down to high? If so grab a 1080 and be happy. Otherwise you'll need an 1180.
