I know, but there's no way to plug it into the motherboard.

so he didn't give you the power plug and power button assembly with the board ?

just auction it as untested and see how much you get.

DO state a reasonable shipping fee tho. that way - even if you don't make much profit at all - at least you don't sell it at a loss

or use it as wall decoration if you are that type of nerd - i'd do it

Hi,

my friend gave a me a motherboard from the Acer Aspire 5749 laptop with a Intel Celeron 1,6 GHz (probadly), but is it worth something or should i just smash it? Thanks for every response :D

Eh, maybe $20 on Ebay. Probably not worth the effort. Whatever you do with it just make sure it gets recycled at the end.

or you can just keep the board, build a nice wooden case around it and use it as a not-so-portable surfbox / homeserver thing.

looks like the CPU is socketed on this one so you could even upgrade it later.

used laptop CPUs are not that expensive AFAIK

The problem is that i don't know if it still works anymore. It worked before, he said, but i dropped the motherboard a few times. Also i don't have a way how to plug it in power.

can you borrow a power brick from somebody with another acer laptop?

unlike lenovo, acer has not changed the power plug for their laptops in AGES.

i have had some acer laptops of different age - from intel core solo to 1st gen i3 to 4th gen i7 and an aspire one netbook with atom N2600 - they all have the same plug and appear to use the same power brick
