is it worth upgrading from a 1070ti to a 1080ti please help

i currently have a ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce® GTX 1070 Ti Advanced Edition and was wondering if its worth upgrading to a ASUS GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti Turbo Edition a buddy of mine is willing to sell it to me for around 800$us me personally i thought it was a great price since the asus turbo edition is selling for 1300$ new

I would say different factors would matter. Resolution and Refresh rate of your monitor? Games you play?

No, the Turbo cooler is pretty terrible and the GTX 11 series is coming out soon

my monitor is 2560x1440 144hz i mainly try to play at 1440 with max settings and i know 11 series will be coming out soon but i can only imagine how hard it will be to get my hands on 1 the first year

You'd get more performance, but you're better off waiting for the GTX 11 series as @JDE said.

Why pay full price when the 1080 will likely surpass the 1080Ti in performance for hundreds of dollars less?

dont upgrade yet,  the gtx 1100 series is coming soon and gpu prices are crazy at the moment
