I recently upgraded my service with Suddenlink Communications from a 200mbps/20mbps plan to a 1000mbps/50mpbs plan. I currently own an TP-Link Archer AC1750 Smart WiFi Router and am renting the modem from Suddenlink. I trying to figure out what would be in my best interest to do from here. Do I just upgrade my modem to their recommended modem and continue renting? Do I purchase a modem of my own instead? If so, which one do I get to handle my speeds and to be compatible with my service provider? Do I sell my router and buy an all-in-one modem/router combo? If so, which one do I get to handle my speeds and to be compatible with my service provider? I was told by their tech support that if I were to get my own modem that I need to get a 32x8 but I'm not sure how truthful that is. Any help would be appreciated.

If you need a new router and can afford one I suggest the ASUS AC RT-5300 (6-core) or the ASUS AC GT5300 (8-core)(I have this very happy)

I was leaning towards buying already. Was wanting to see what others might suggest. I've found a few different brands of the same-ish modem. The one you linked was one of them. What about the Netgear equivalent?

Or an all in one like this Arris?

FWIW, I couldn't be happier with my Google WIFI setup so if you're looking for a mesh network solution.
