ASUS Prime Pro X470 NVME Slot?

Hi guys,

I've purchased this mobo and a NVME m.2 ssd (960 Evo) but then having a look at the board. It only states m.2 suppott and not NVME as I know the pins are different onboth.

Can someone clarify if this board has NVME support.

Thanks.

Yes it support PCIE NVME M.2 SSD's.

Do I require a PCIE adapter? Or it goes straight into the m.2 slot.

No adapters of any kind required. You see that silver plate just above the top PCIE slot, under the CPU socket? That is the M.2 heatsink, just under there is an M.2 slot in which you can install the SSD like any M.2 would be installed.

This short document should give you an idea of how it will be installed:

But that's an M.2 slot, the NVME pins are different and won't fit in that slot?

The Crucial explanation I linked indeed shows a SATA M.2 CPU, but it was only to give you a visual of how to install the SSD.  The practice of installing the M.2 SSD is the same on both SATA and PCIE/NVME M.2 SSD's.

Your motherboard's M.2 slots will support it though: "Next-gen connectivity: Supreme flexibility with dual M.2 support, NVME RAID support, USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and front-panel header"
