How to use my hard drives

I have walked into a set of about 30 500gig SATA hard drives.

What I want to do with them is put them into a chassis and address them as one single drive on the network.

What is my cheapest option to do this?

If you want to use it as a NAS, a version of linux (not sure which one. ask someone else ) is what you should use. I can dig around on the net and try to find out. Google is powerful

So a single Google search revealed there is something called FreeNAS. It's a linux OS made with NAS servers in mind hence the name

OK. So you have around 15000gigs.To do the FreeNAS Server you need a couple of things.

The next thing is to find a motherbord with alot of sata plugs.And a good cpu,like intel core i3/or Intel Xeon.

You put all of the hard drives in the server case,get a power supply and the installation of FreeNAS is easy!
