1700 XFR after overclock?

Hi,

 

I got my 1700 OC'ed at 3.9ghz using the power states method, and if you look at the screenshot you can see it reaches up to 4032ghz sometimes on single cores randomly. Is that XFR kicking in even after an overclock, or is that something else? I thought XFR gets disabled after OC'ing.

There's a 'spread spectrum' option in Intel systems, not sure if that's also called the same in AMD CPUs. Turn it off.

Cinebench R15 Single thread:168 Multi-thread: 833 

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s

Why? I think it's awesome it reaches over 4ghz, I'm just wondering how. The system is fully stable, tested on a bunch of diff benchmarks

By the way, when I benchmark the system all cores go to 3.9 ghz. So I assume its only single core boosts that go higher

Is it not precision boost coming into effect rather than XFR?

It's basically Dynamic Frequency Scaling, Usually disabling it helps with stability with OC'in

spread spectrum makes the clock jump around, so it's possible to reach a higher clock.

I thought MCE replaced spread spectrum on intel processors?

they are two different stuff. MCE overclocks the CPU's all core frequency to that of the single core turbo clock, while spread spectrum bounces the BCLK between 99MHz and 101MHz to prevent interference.
