DNS Superstar

So today, Linus posted a video about the benefits of using the DNS 1.1.1.1. Now my questions are if I use the DNS 1.1.1.1, then will my internet bill go up?

Why would your Internet bill go up? Changing your DNS server is one of the most simple changes you can make.

what? why would your internet bill go up?

to be honest, im surprised people are actually still using their ISPs dns still. obviously non-techies sure, but with options like google(8.8.8.8), comodo(8.26.56.26), opendns(208.67.222.222), quad9(9.9.9.9), and now cloudflare(1.1.1.1), there is no reason or excuse to continue using the one your isp provided

But I don't understand this. Why is it free? I'm 100% sure it was set up by the US government, probably by FBI. They're spying on each one of us. I wonder what'll happen if I download a movie while using 1.1.1.1, lol.

Because even with all the young people trying to be jerks on the internet there still are people who see the internet as a good place and try to do some good on it ;).

It's free because any data goes to making Cloudflare protected and linked services faster. It improves their existing products and gives them more value which is far more valuable than charging for DNS services.

It's run by a non profit in partnership with cloudflare
