Question about Ryzen 1600 RAM support

Hi. So I recently bought a new GA-AB350-Gaming 3 mobo, Ryzen 5 1600 and 8gb of hyper X 2666mhz 2*8 RAM(part number HX426C15FBK2/8) and the only way I can get it to boot is if the memory is in single channel instead of dual i.e. DIMM 1 and 2(single) but not in DIMM 1 and 3(Duel). I have tested every config for the placement for the sticks but only single channel works.

side note: I have windows installed(with single channel) and I have had no stability issues but the ram will only boot at 2400mhz

do you have other ram spares?

No I do not I do have the money to go get some new ram at a different speed as my thinking is that the CPU will not run it at 2666 at if I try to force it to run at that speed the CPU error light comes on, the fans spin but nothing else happens

Have you tried DIMM 2 and 4?

If you cannot boot in dual channel return the motherboard and give it a go again.

Yeah, then return the motherboard (and maybe the sticks if you want to be safe - but I don't think they are the cause really).

Do you think I should get a different brand of mobo or just get a new one of the same kind?

When you RMA you usually get the same motherboard you bought... You do not really get to choose.

However, if you can choose I would go with an Asus Prime B350 which is in the same price range.

Have you tried updating the Bios?  This tends to fix many issues.

Just make sure to update Bios, from the bios, not the app within windows.  I have had that app crash recently and lost the motherboard in the process.

Yeah it would have been a pain in the ass... taking it all apart then having to ship just the mobo back and waiting on the new one
