Taiwan-based graphics card makers including Gigabyte Technology, Micro-Star International (MSI) and TUL are expected to see their shipments for April plunge over 40% on month, as many clients have suspended taking shipments in response to drastic slowdown in demand for cryptocurrency mining machines, according to industry sources.



 

Channel distributors and larger mining farm operators have cut orders with makers of mining graphics cards and mining motherboards or asked them to suspend shipments due to the crypto mining craze waning abruptly from the beginning of April, the sources said.

 

Hope for the sake of anyone building a rig this is actually true. Possible glut in market in May leading to lower prices.. maybe... even closer to MSRP?

Should be interesting. Though, one has to wonder how much much stock they really have produced right now.

I personally am looking forward to the potential mass of cards hitting the market as big players switch over to other, newer cards.

 

But let's be real. This time around there were tons of lesser educated people (as far as hardware goes) mining, so they'll likely keep mining for the foreseeable future. We'll likely have to see an increase in production to make up for pricing issues rather than a drop in mining demand.

 

Or, perhaps, this is just the end of relatively affordable GPU's. Welcome to a hobby becoming much more mainstream folks.

Probably in leu of upcoming GPU announcements. Maybe we'll hear something about miner specific devices, maybe we'll hear about Nvidia 1100/AMD 600 cards, maybe we'll hear nothing about any of it and all the miners will have gotten their fill of GPUs hoarding, maybe as soon as new shipments come in people swipe them all again and scalp the market knowing people have been waiting for cards and jack prices again on eBay.
