I7 7700K With CM Evo 212

Im planing on upgrading my cpu to i7 7700k and im not sure what cooler should i get for it. i was thinking about getting an CM evo 212 but i dont know if it would be good enough for it. im not planing on overclocking it or anything i just dont want it hitting over 80c.

If evo 212 is not good enough can you recommend me a good cooler that will keep it near 60-80c?

It's good enough. People will bash it for being "old" (same with your CPU btw, don't listen to them if you can't afford anything better). The 212 Evo has been a solid cooler for years and will continue to be so.

 

EDIT: Get a Zalman CNPS5X Performa or an ARCTIC Freezer 13 if you can't get hold of a 212 EVO. All 3 of the coolers I mentioned are brilliant btw.

If you're not overclocking, don't buy an unlocked CPU.

K series also comes out with a higher base and boost clock so I'd say even if he doesn't overclock it's still worth for the higher base and boost.

The only reason I bash the 212 Evo for being old is because we have the 212X out already for the same price but with a very superior fan.

The 212 Evo is fine but there are likely better or cheaper alternatives available if you don't already have the cooler.

I wouldn't pick it if there was other alternatives. Are you looking at budget grade or something with actual value?
