Left ear hates IEM's

TubsAlwaysWins

So I recently got a pair of Jaybird X3's, and they are amazing. The only issue is my left ear hates them. They hate all IEM's for some reason, actually. The other main two that i use are some 1st gen powerbeats wireless and apple earpods.

Every pair of IEMs I have every used are quieter in my left ear, which sucks but its not to bad and can be balanced out in settings.

The issue with the Jaybirds is that they either dont sit in my ear enough to make a seal and I can barely hear them, and they sound pathetic, or they create some type of pressure change. Im not sure if its an increase or decrease but it is really annoying and i cant hear them with it there, and it hurts.

So what am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? I can deal with noise reductions but the pressure things sucks when It hurts like a mf

Honestly just sounds like asymmetrical ear canals to me. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

What I've done is take custom molding earplugs and fit a spot for my IEMs to go for a better fit.

Something like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006GWRJK/?coliid=ITF4ZMWFND4VV&colid=3FT0GOIW1M7CZ&psc=0

You can get replacement rubber caps for in ear headphones that often come in sets of different sizes and shapes. If the Jaybirds have replaceable caps, you can switch the left one out for one that is a better fit for your ear.

You can also try inserting them differently; often times fit issues are due to plugs not going in far enough.  Google "inserting ear plugs" and look at the images.  Obviously, IEM is not an ear plug, but the lesson of straightening your ear canal when insert a plug can also help with IEMs.  It looks awkward reaching around your head and tugging on your ear when putting in earbuds, but it can make a huge difference.
