Phone recording gear

So I'm gonna be away this summer and I wanted to make some videos while I was away.  It will take place in large part outside with loud sounds now and then from a moderate distance (I'm doing a Drum Corps, if anyone knows what that is, and I was planning on having my phone on the bleachers). I'm currently settling on the gorillapod as a mount but I don't know what to use as a mic. I want something at least better than the standard phone mic (unless you think that's suitable), but also not something that'll make my operation too expensive, I'm looking at a max of $50, but I'm hoping for less if possible.

Something like the Video Mic with a sock over it as a wind filter? No idea on audio quality.
