Need a computer for video editing. Only have about 1000.00 dollars to spend. 

 

what would be best for light video editing, older cheap Mac book, Mac book Pro, or iMac? Which models/year?

ARe you set on apple? You'll get better bang for the buck with a PC

I used to be an Apple person and i would have to agree with this statement. The $1000 can get you way more horsepower unless it is a software thing keeping you on OSX. You do get iMovie with OSX for free, but if you are doing video editing for anything other than a hobby you will want to pay for the software. If this is the case then you can go PC or Mac.

but da vinci reslove is a great editor that will work great with many cores

also does it have to be a laptop? or a all in 1

Do you absolutely need a laptop?

Because you can just get an R5 2400G system and be pretty alright as far as CPU performance goes.

What software are you going to be using to edit? If you are buying a Mac you should be using Final Cut Pro. If you are using Premiere you would be better off with a PC.

if your still using Premiere look at Da Vinic reslove as it offers most for free or some large scale things for a 1 time fee.
