Well hopefully the 2 people with ssds just... sitting around... for some reason... Can change one of those things!

I just got another three SSDs and three 16GB kits of ram yesterday for 100$ total... Oh and the rest of the PCs too.

I need to purge, its like a minefield of legos in my room, but PC parts

The theoretical upgrade is massive. For general consumer use, an 850 Evo is not that massive an upgrade over a decent 7200RPM spinner. Also, you hit diminishing returns moving from SATA III to NVMe, there's no realistic upgrade beyond that 850 Evo, just burning more money. Slightly longer load times, big woop. Load times with a decent HDD is still fairly fast, if the platform itself is decent.

I go between a 5930K @4.5GHz paired with an 850 Evo, 950 Pro, and Sandisk Extreme II, and an i3-4130T paired with a 5400RPM spinner constantly. There is an improvement, but the overall difference in usability is pathetic, the 4130T is the bottleneck in the system, not its recycled Dell laptop HDD.

What? Dude, I think you need to get your eyes checked out. SATA SSD's perform in the realm of 14-20x faster than your tranditional hard drive, depending on the make and model of the drive. I think I am in the majority by stating that SSD's really do provide a nice boost to your system and are a really decent upgrade to have. On your point of NVME, yes, there are great diminishing returns unless you are a serious workstation user, where you might actually see a difference. Stating that there is little to no difference between a 5400RPM hard drive and a SATA SSD is just wrong, plain and simple.

48GB of RAM? Shoot, you could probably pay off a small car loan with those with the way current RAM prices are fixed at xD

Also, I could use 16GB lol

They're DDR3

If they were DDR4 I'd use them on my Z270 Maximus IX Hero I scored for 60 bucks

Dang...

Honestly, I aspire to have a house full of PC parts. It's like my only real connection to the kitchen set these days...

Jokes aside, I do need to get a fund for my GPU and other misc parts going...

He mentioned that his old i3 build was being bottlenecked by the CPU, not the hard drive. I'm not going to argue the first point, but I have a feeling the 5400RPM hard drive wasn't working any miracles either. My statement still applies to any hard drive, regardless of speed :)

My HTPC could use an upgrade from 8GB....... :)

Seriously though, where did you just happen to come upon 48GB of RAM like that? Do you have secret magic powers you aren't telling us about?

I'm genuinely interested in learning how this is possible.

Just sayin.

Speaking of bottlenecks, I managed to bottleneck a 750Ti

With what, an Athlon 64?

Does your CPU not have a CPU?

My CPU has 12 CPUs, none of which bottleneck my CPU though.

That's theory. It's not quite as simple as "BUT IZ FASTER!!!!111!!" Alot of it depends on the tasks being asked of the drives.

The low queue depths and small file sizes that consumers and gamers deal with, don't get SSDs going balls to the walls. The task is done in a similar amount of time going from an SSD to a decent HDD.

I've transfered and transcoded 250GB in movies and TV shows, and that was when my 950 Pro and 850 Evo really shown what they're really capable of, and that's when they outperformed the fastest spinners I have by meaningful margins. Playing Hitman, and the load times see a small impact of consistently less than 3 seconds.

Simple. 4130T, not that fast. The 4130T, on the other hand, total speed demon. It just can't keep up.

It's the chip that solidified my hatred of everything Intel i3.

Unless its a QM or an 8th gen, all core i3, i5, and i7 chips are the same to me.

If it ain't a quad core, it ain't an i5 or i7
