What does thermal paste taste like? Is it toxic?

Adorable Cat

I had some thermal paste on my fingers and considered licking a little bit of it off out of pure curiosity. I didn't, but I wonder if anyone here has ever tasted thermal paste (accidentally or on purpose) and knows what it tastes like?

Highly depends on which thermal compound you are using. Some will honestly taste like straight up clay.

I've always though it would have some sort of metallic taste to it. Interesting topic, btw, lol.

I make thermal paste sandwiches everyday.

Slather it on top of some roast beef -- gosh if you haven't tried it, you haven't lived!!!

Depends what the compound is made of. It's unlikely to be particularly acutely toxic and almost certainly won't contain anything that a recognised carcinogen, mutagen or reproductive toxin.

I had a look at the MSDS's of some Arctic's ones and they all appear to be eye irritants and several are environmental toxins due to their ingredients.

At least one I looked at contained Carbon black - potentially carcinogenic if inhaled depending on the particle size (so unlikely if it's paste).

You will turn blue, once ingested enough. If it's quality paste though, that is.
