Changing fans in a HP ProLiant DL120 G5

Zacke

Hello

Me and my father are trying to change the fans on a HP ProLiant DL120 G5 server, it uses 6 25mm 8k rpm fans. we are gonna make a custom chassi for it and try to use slower 120mm fans and new cpu coolers.

But we have a problem, if we unplug the original fans the server won't start and we cant change the speed on them and there is no 3-pin connectors for new fans.

does anyone know how we can fix it?

@Zacke Have you tried splicing the 3-pin connector onto the new fan? there is fan speed devices on amazon and ebay that first plugs into the 3-pin but outputs to a 4-pin. I think they r called speed control adapters.
