Never update your android software! EVER

This is my personal suggestion to all of you. 

If you got your new shinny phone, and you happy with how it works, the battery life and so..

DO NOT UPDATE THE SOFTWARE! 

For the last 8 years, I am doing same mistake, only cause of the stupid notification on the phone, that there is new version for the software. 

I had HTC one , the first model, that called m7 if I remember it right , would hold the phone on single battery charge for 2-3 days. While using it for calls, music, video. 

After  update, it would lose 3-5 % on night stand. 

Same with HTC M8 . 

Now, about 7 months ago, after long debate with my self, I got my self, the Samsung S8+ .

I really was happy with it, the speed, battery life. 

It would hold 2.5 days , on heavy usage (Mine usage) which, is , skype always online, whatsapp, music, Waze, emails. Youtube. 

FOR 2.5 days! It was perfect. 

But then, NEW UPDATE. 

Jesus. the phone hold now more or less 1 day! 

GRRRAAA..

I am actually thinking to sold my old one, to get same exactly phone, just for it to have the OLD 7.0 android version . 

 

So I suggest you, find a way to disable notification, but do not update it!

I've updated my P9 from android 6 to 7 and it's better lmao.

I have updated my old Galaxy S3 from 4.1 to 4.3 and Honor 6 from Android 4.4 -> 5.0 -> 6.0

And my current phone, Honor 9, from Android 7 to 8 and I haven't had any problems.

Okay, first, just because HTC has not made performance/battery life improvements, that doesn't mean every Android update is bad.

Android itself is constantly getting better, ask any Nexus or Pixel phone owner.

 

Manufacturers themselves edit the OS to use their design, their HALs and other drivers.

 

Sony Ericsson phones had 2.3.4 to 4.0 update and that was bad indeed, although these devices were more or less out of support too. Galaxy Note 3 updates were just fine. OnePlus 3T updates have been great as well, even from 7 to 8.

NO problems.

Every one know, when you use old device, and use some new technology on it, it will have a down effect. 

Other wise, no one would change the phones.

I've never had a problem updating my phones. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the apps after an update?

Maybe one of them didn't like what happened and went rogue

I sort of agree with you there.  I just recently got the Oreo update for my Note 8 and I hate it!  It doesn't perform any worse or anything like that, but little features like the Always On Display have far fewer and worse options than they did on Nougat.  I really just fail to understand the hype for OS updates, even on Apple products.  I got iOS 11 installed on my Gen 1 iPad Air and it completely wrecked the tablet's performance.  Just stick with what it came with and you will be fine...

Hope i understand you right there: You can just flash the older Image? on Samsung it works with Odin. If you do it right, Knox will NOT be triggered.

One thing I dislike on the new Android update for my S8+ is that they got rid of the native functionality to change the text notification sound for each individual contact.  Why?  What reason was to get rid of something so basic and simple?

I had a $70 Samsung J7 that updated from 5.0 to 6.0 to 7.1.1 in the space of a couple months & loved it. Way more functionality. Battery life stayed the same, and with way more monitoring options. 

The only issue i had was learning the new UI. 

Currently on a Moto G5S plus & looking forward to Oreo update later this year. 

Just my two cents.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think just because Google offers a new version of Android that they immediately stop providing critical security updates for previous versions.  And for me personally, I have NEVER had a phone hacked or infected with malware in the entire 8 years that I have been using smart phones.  So yeah...

You don't have to update to a new version of the entire OS to get security updates is my point.  And yeah, I understand malware exists for all platforms (even Apple) but I still haven't had any issues personally.

I was given where to get the files, but they all corrupted. So i am unable to do it

Installed, reinstalled, flashed .. I did everything to the phone,to see if it helps. 

Nothing.

OK , maybe read one more time mate.

Also, when some one strongly suggesting not to upgrade, doesn't mean you need to listen to what people say.

If someone will tell you to jump, will you ?

I am just started the topic, fro the people like my self, that always happy with performance , but cause of the stupid notification that always on top, getting annoyed , an updating it. 

Also, the security update, is more for the PC users, unless, you use phone for for purchases, as well as browsing some sketchy sites, and downloading random software/ stuff from net.

Also, the new update fuc** up the hide content on phone settings. 

I am not able any longer to block content for separated apps.
