Apple tried to sue a Norwegian repair shop for using non genuine screens to repair iPhones last year (and lost)

needlessly slap their logo all over everything and then go around sueing over trademark when independent shops import refurbished screens.

Apple is obligated by their share holders to “protect” their IP. Displays are IP and I don’t see how you could argue that a reverse engineered part is not infinging on Apples rights simply because it doesn’t have the Apple logo on it.

That ruling is absurd. If I were to reverse engineer a BMW and just didn’t put the BMW logo on it anywhere and sold it, according to the logic of this Norwegian Court, I should be in the clear. No!

Should Apple sell OEM parts for replacement? Absolutely. But they should also be able to sue makers* of counterfeit parts.

I'm guessing you missed the Louis Rossmann vid? There is a difference between counterfeit and refurbished, the repair service apparently wasn't selling any services using fake displays, also Apple forcing the company to destroy all their parts and get hit by fines would have ruined their business. This is more like replacing a broken bumper on a BMW using a salvaged part then BMW sues the independent repair company while claiming that car isn't a BMW anymore. Edit- I understand that Apple might have grounds to sue anyway to totally protect their IP while wanting their approved techs using only certified new parts.
