Why do gaming youtubes put asterisks in there title? Such as,

 

DO *NOT* TRY THIS In Fortnite Battle Royale!

Building The *BIGGEST* PORT-A-FORT BASE In Fortnite Battle Royale!

 

*NEW* SKY BASE TRICK!

 

Anyone Know why? Im really curious

Because it grabs your attention, which equals views, which equals money.

 

They wouldn't do it if it didn't improve their metrics and revenue.


Think about it, which grabs your attention? "Asus 17" gaming laptop review" or "Is This The NEW ULTIMATE Gaming Laptop?"

 

It's obvious why these channels use the ridiculous titles and video thumbnails.

Not sure how Youtube algorithms work.  But I do know the other name of the asterisk when it comes to computer syntax:  the wildcard.  Maybe it acts similar as it does in computer commands by telling the algorithm to treat the word at its beginning and end to work with any other combination of letters or words.  That what popped into my head, probably a bit to in depth though of a thought.
