What's the oldest piece of tech you still use?

Not "I still use fire and a knife", but more "I still use casette tapes".

What is the difference, though? If you want a restricted subset, what would the restriction be? Electronics only?

Kind of a tie between my Presario 2286 with a Cyrix MII (used for games/MIDIs, kinda ironic since the machine coming up is a good bit faster) and my ProSignia 165 with Windows 2K on it (used for money management and ironically when I start college, probably that too when I'm at home).

The oldest piece of tech I have is probably my Nintendo 64, which is still in great condition, thankfully.

Depends on what you mean by tech. My washer and dryer are 20 years old. My refrigerator is 44 years old. My cordless phones are 15 years old.

My phone is a Galaxy S3.

I have a dual Athlon MP system that I loaded Windows XP onto for a bit of retro gaming, complete with GeForce4 MX420 AGP.

I don't use this next one, but I have a keyboard in my basement that uses an AT connector.

I have a 2006 Mac Pro hooked to my TV, not the most convenient living room PC, but certainly looks good. My 2010 Macbook Pro also sees a fair bit of use. On the PC side it'll be my Phenom 945 system (2009) I shamelessly store at my dad's for the few times a year I visit. My oldest keyboard is a Logitech media keyboard from late 00s, not particularly old, but it's the first keyboard I bought myself so it holds a special value.

My Xbox from 2001 would be the oldest console I still use enough to fit here. I have a Game Boy Color from 1998 and PlayStation 2 from 2000, but I haven't used those in a long time.

Moving on to the specific retro hardware. My current preferred "retro" build has Athlon 2800+ from 2002, so not particularly old. Sees use about as often as the 945, but for shorter periods at a time, not honestly sure if it should even count. I have a couple of 300MHz systems that rarely get out of the closet, and a Commodore 64C (1987) that gets used a few times a year. My crown jewel would be VIC-20 (1981), but it's not in working order at the moment.

While it doesn't count at the moment either, I pick up sealed blank VHS-tapes (1976) whenever I find them on flea markets and such, looking towards to the day I have more space and can set up a proper entertainment center. I'd love to do the same with C-cassettes, but blank sealed ones for the right price are a rare sight, and coming across with this stuff by chance is a significant part of the hobby, as it's not even an active hobby yet. I of course pick up floppies (3½") in the same manner.

The oldest tech I own that I actually "use"? My Dell Optiplex GX110, I use it as my music player, and for fun sometimes I'll do work for my WIP game on it.

If you count consoles in this discussion, then yeah that'd be my NES, SNES and N64 I still break out from time to time. But usually I emulate so that's not very often.

I don't really use it but it's in my computer but I'll eventually remove it. Western digital Green 1tb drive, it's probably around 8 years old. The next oldest thing would be my xbox 360 controller then ps4 for context so the HDD is the oldest. Not sure if that even counts though as all my stuff is on SSD, I'm just lazy

Still have CDs too and use them.

Still use an old iPod Classic.

Hmmmm, my RTi 150s probably consider old.  Still sound like champs when bi-amped though.

I also still have a PS2 and Gamecube I fire up at times.

CDs are the only way I will buy my music. The audio quality is superior to what one can get from a download plus you get far more information about the tracks, composers, and artists from the case inserts. I rip them to MP3 (320kbps) and .wav after I get them.

Same, plus, cheap to boot now, especially with Best Buy offloading theirs (nabbed a few for under 7 bucks each).
