Pc Build Review

Ramb02

Helping a friend with a parts list. Going to help him build his first pc.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fKjK4q

  • Budget $900-$1000.
  • Games like Battlefront 2, and pubg, and csgo are going to be played on the pc.
  • Black and Red Theme if possible
  • $USD
  • Budget around $250 for monitor and keyboard. (already has steel series mouse)

Any suggestions or changes?

I say everything is just fine but the RAM. Try to just squeeze ever so faster RAM in the build since Ryzen loves its RAM speed. Other than that it should be respectable xD

Ryzen 2xxx series comes out in a week, as will 400 series motherboards.  Spend $100 more and get a 2600, a motherboard will most likely be around $80-$100, but I added more, faster ram, a better psu and a better ssd. EDIT: also the cooler you added is pretty bad, the stock ryzen cooler it pretty good, so I'd keep it.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

Consider waiting another 3 days for next-gen Ryzen CPU's? Also perhaps you would consider a switch to an Intel based system as both PUBG and CSGO prefer these CPU's for their higher clock speeds.

Looks fine, dont get the CPU cooler the stock Ryzen one is just fine, i would say get higher speed ram something like FlareX, The SSD you picked is one of the best on the market (not size wise). Also you could always go with a Ryzen 5 APU. This is Build #1 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QkGDxG

APU Build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tMfjpG along with some benchmarks to show you that you will get the same/slightly lower frames https://videocardz.com/74961/amd-ryzen-5-2400g-synthetic-and-gaming-benchmarks-emerge

Saying that they "Prefer" a cpu over another is false, if that was the case people would chose the meh intel CPU over a high end AMD or mid tier AMD CPU, also benchmarks prove otherwise

Why would he get that memory for 4$ more he can get 3200 Ripjaws 16gb? Also that SSD isnt inherently better the real "better" thing about it is its price

I just didn't see that memory I accidentally bumped it out in the price slider my bad, but the ssd is decent quality and saves about $30.  The evo is definitely better, but has become overpriced.

Friends not going to play pubg that much. Mainly csgo and fortnite. Is their a big difference in performance in csgo with intel cpu compared to amd?

Intel will perform significantly better in CSGO to the point that I would consider the platform change. I cannot speak for Fortnite as I haven't seen benchamarks, but given it isn't a greatly GPU bound game, it is likely that it would follow the same trend as CSGO

Both of those tests are "old" objectively there is such of a thing called optimization. Also why spend more for a intel CPU that COULD give him more frames but it doesnt matter because he is only on 144hz not 240hz

skip to 4:30 for recent benchmarks for PUBG.

An extra 25FPS on top when comparing the 8400 to Ryzen 1600 plus much better 1%lows. This gap will also increase as you lower the detail settings to become less GPU bound.

Still months ago again not updated.  Also for Ryzen to be fully taken advantaged of you need the correct ram, he doesnt say what ram it is at the given time. Just take a look at Pauls Hardware, Bitwit, Gamers Nexus, etc.

the evo isn't any better in performance, it's about the same as the MX500 but the MX500 has a higher endurance rating and much cheaper.

PUBG hasn't had major optimisation changes like the 1.0 update. This is relevant, please stop banging on that Ryzen is better in this case when it's not. The chip was oc'ed and running 3200Mhz. it was given the best possible chance, it just wasn't as good. Because pubg wants clockspeed as does CSGO. Don't get me wrong, Ryzen is still capable but intel is just a bit better in these circumstances. And with the budget motherboards been release for intel, their price to performance is near equal

When did i ever say Ryzen was better? also saying that the bang for buck is equal is absurd. And riddle me this why spend more money to get more frames when you cant take advantage of them and in fact it could lead to more issues

You alluded to it. Yes the bang for buck is nearly equal. What do you mean can't take advantage of more frames? In what way?

higher frame rate over what your monitor can handle can cause screen tearing, V-Sync can prevent this, while G Sync prevents screen tearing for lower then your refresh rate (dont quote me on this, this is how i was explained it). So more frames can do more harm then good in a lot of use cases.

As a user of a 6700K OC'ed to 4.8GHz, and I have about 1800Hrs in CS, whilst running a 144Hz monitor, I can assure you, there is no screen tearing

1. Do you know what screen tearing looks like? 2. Is V sync/Gsync on? 3. I said can cause its different for everyone, i dont know about you but i would rather be safe
