Homesick, can't really get over it...

I lived in central NY state for about 8 years, it is still pants weather here... I would likely be in shorts in S. IL, plus I miss the thunder storms very much. if I could trade remaining years for them... Christmas the towns are bare here,,, No one in family gives a crap about how I feel... I can't really live on my own & fam. wants me very vlose

If I could live on my own, I 110% would move back to the midwest...

Best to live in a warm climate all year round, say west coast in Southern Oregon or Northern Cali right on the ocean, or on the shores of some crystal clean lake like Goose Lake, Klamath lake. If on the ocean, someplace where they dont pipe sewage into the ocean like Victoria BC does.

If you're too young, suck it up and enjoy where you are now. If you can't learn to adapt to a relatively small change like that, you're going to have a real hard time with the rest of your life.

Could simply be winter blues, though he said he was away for 8 years so that might have showed up before. He might just need some vacations back home with the family.

 

I personally have a hard time understanding the homesick feeling since that never happened to me and sounds pretty foreign. (I moved out of my hometown more than 15 years ago and lived abroad for a while too).

Homesickness, I personally don't feel homesick big time, but there are things I miss from my home town. Like the sea shore, the wind, the small city itself... 

 

I'm away now for over 20 years, but I still miss some things. After visiting after a long while not, I was shocked how the city has changed, it didn't feel like home anymore.

 

And against homesickness, try to build yourself a cozy home, best with a partner and grow new roots. Your hometown will ever stay your home town, some things you'll miss always, but it helps.

I guess so, but he can always move back. There are very few things in life that will actually stop you from doing something you really want to do.

Especially something as simple as relocation within the same country.

 

Yeah, I agree. I love living in a new place, always new stuff to explore. Though Vancouver will always have my heart.
For now...the UK might win in the end though.

I haven't really gotten over it either. I'm stuck in the city, in Wellington. Terrible place. What I did is to make the best of my situation and to regularly call home etc. Its just hard when two places are so different. You just have to live with it though and remember you are here for a reason. Stay strong :)
