Awesome so back to folding until the gpu event starts then. Do we know what it will be yet?

worth giving up the marathon for now? Also consider that the only cpu I have that can do anything is a 4790k at 4.6ghz. Ill switch if its the better strategy.

I think going all in on one CPU event at a time will show just what we can do. Switch to marathon after if no other CPU event is started?

Basically, every work unit(WU) they send out theres usually a sister WU(Or multiple) these are identical and the results are compared against each other. If they are the same (or within margin of error) the results are accepted and the credits rewarded. So, someone who's slow or only uploads once a day may have the sister WUs. It can be months in some very rare situations but often isn't. I hope this helps.

Thanks, makes sense. Lets hope these don't take months since they're for the decathlon..

The event kind of kicked off on a bad weekend for me (drill weekend which I had a PT test, so I was bone tried out on Sunday).  Like right now, I just want to go to sleep and let my legs stop hurting.

In a bit, have to do musical chairs with my keyboard and mouse.

I really need to invest into a KVM switch.  Especially once I have three computers all going here soon.  Now to get my new goodies setup, though pissed I left my multi-ISO Linux boot USB stick at my parents, grrrrrr.

Ok.  Xeon is now in the right team.  It is still focused on NumberFields.

Should help out to maintain in Marathon.

I have my E5-2670V3 ES chip.  Had a little issue booting it, but got that straighten out(XMP was not playing ball, so had to auto set and just deal with my RAM at lower speeds).  Xeons be picky chips.  So, 24 threads there.  Have to say, GT AP-15 fan on big arse air cooler with AIO cooled GPU equals nice and low noise.

I have a 1700X @ 3.9GHz on all 16 threads.   4.0 wasn't stable enough to crunch.

Ryzen 1700X

MSI Gaming Pro Carbon MB

Noctua D15s Cooler with 2X 140mm LED fans

32GB 3200Mhz RAM (Running at ~3000Mhz because compatibility...)

2X ASUS R9 290X

Intel 540 SSD for OS (BOINC installed here)

Corsair Carbide Air 540 case

Should I split some cores over to the marathon?

I've tried repeatedly to get my Snapdragon 835 to crunch some numbers but the U@H tasks just errors out, so I'm running Rosetta on it.

Trying to talk my wife into getting her overclocked 1700X involved too...   But she's a graphic designer and very protective of her rig...

When the GPU task opens I'll throw a 290X at it, maybe two if I can get my temps under control.

Edit: Just added a 7300HQ from my Inspiron to the mix, so 4 more threads there...

@Ithanul are you crunching for Overclock.net?

That is understandable.  At most, can ask to set her's to use less of the CPU like 30-40%, that will keep the temps under and not put a full strain on the system.  One advantage I like about the BOINC client over the F@H client, a lot more fine tune control.

My 1900X is crunching under OCN (my old home forum and a lot of folding/boinc chaps over there that I been with for several years now).  The Xeon is helping out over here.  I want to help the LTT forums grow its F@H/BOINC area.  The more people crunching these units, the more research that gets done.

It's not an issue, obviously, I just clicked on one of my tasks to see who had validated it and it was you with a threadripper, lol. Wanted to make sure someone else hadn't started using your name elsewhere...   ...and to let you know if they had.

Yep, my 1900X is going full force.  My room is fairly toasty and I yet to get this 1950X setup put together.

But this where one can fine tune the compute load.

Wish Standford do a update to F@H to give more fine tune preferences considering they really not update that client in some time now.

You know, I'm honestly kind of impressed with my 1700X...   It's been going full blast for over 24hours and isn't really any warmer than normal...  ...but that could be thanks to the Noctua as well...

I have the Noctua too, but I still rather put a block later on it as the noise level is a bit too high for my taste.  Unless I can rig a GT AP-15 or eLoop on it instead.  May have to give that a go.

The Noctuas do move air, but there sound output is barely better than a SP-120 in my opinion.

Quick question, what's the point of setting it to 99% as opposed to 100%?
