I just put in an order for 64GB ram as I have a bad shortage at home, but that wont affect this event which is practically over by the time I get it. I do have a couple of older quad cores I can put on, and my dual Xeon box is a maybe too. It all comes down to how warm it is!

 

Thing is those NF tasks are pretty long and I'm not sure if my slower systems will get much done. Can only try...

Definitely a First world problem haha. My athlon system has died, guess running at 100C takes it toll on a system.

4 Hours to go. Turned off PPS in the project preferences but it'll take half a day to empty the queues. Turned on GFN22 for the Vegas and V's since that seem the most interesting in PrimeGrid... and since those cards can't do squat for the rest of the pentathlon.

 

Apparently those WU can take days so I want some experience with them so I know how best to bunker for next year. Both main systems made it into the top 20 hosts so the boxes held up OK

 

Edit: still waiting for epic bunkers to be dropped (pref not below us) but so far disappointed.

So we have 24 hours lordy, I say bring online everything we've got to throw at it for the final stretch any make a dent where possible! It may not be efficient, but GPUs on A@H and CPUs on NF@H!  I think we could push out a few more points if we try hard, especially in marathon once we've passed the uk team in city run we won't be making much more of a dent there.

That was fun... reminds me of the old days when there was more inter-team competition going on with various projects.

Yeah! I remember many a competition in the past that my stepdad and I entered with our new Pentium 4 HT with SETI, Damn those were the days. But everyone just cheated the system back then!

It was seti@home that introduced me to this too. I recall running a few systems on dial-up! Can't remember my 1st ever team, but in case you've heard of any them, I was with OcUK for a bit, but suffice to say a LOT of people had problems with them and moved on. Most of my early days were with Team Picard (named after the STTNG captain). That blew up when a group of mods on the forums wanted to change name to Team Ninja as the forums were then hosted on a server with ninja in the name. The civil war was short and Ninja won the day as most heavy hitters sided that way. I had sided with Picard and wasn't pleased with the forced takeover. I see the team still exists but activity is practically zero. I had a foot in Team Phoenix Rising, as another offshoot from those bothered by OcUK. That was then the new home for a while, until it just slowly fizzled out. People moved on, and we didn't get new members to replace them. There was a great focus as one member had a pub so there were regular meetups there for a lan party. Forward to now, since I'm only really active in PrimeGrid I picked Aggie The Pew as a bit of fun. I was also approached by Dutch Power Cows, but I remember having epic battles with them in RC5 days. For other projects I parked everything at LTT although I'm not active in them outside of this event.

Nice history, to be honest I was out of the game for a long time, then when I got my GTS 450 I got into folding@home. Been there ever since, used to fold solo, then with a generic UK national team. Was out for a year or two then when I got my 960 I was back with LTTs team. I've actually had tell users with you guys. One had an underscore, the one I use now doesn't. Now I have a decent collection of cards and enjoy being competitive with the top echelon of the team. Not bad for a guy living on carers allowance eh.
