Fortnite, yes I'm sure you've heard of it, is now becoming the Candy Crush crusher and it's currently CLASHING with Clash of clans (I'll leave now) and thanks to data from Sensortower.com it's earning up 1.8 million dollars a day, yes, let me just say that again. A FREE TO PAY GAME IS EARNING 1.8 MILLION A DAY

Meanwhile, total worldwide mobile revenue for Fortnite has surpassed $15 million gross, with about $10.5 million paid to Epic Games, in just 20 days since the game began monetizing on March 15. Global installs of the game have topped 11 million since launch.

 

The chart below illustrates the dramatic increase in revenue seen by Fortnite once the game was opened to all players. This was preceded by a significant, yet smaller, increase in revenue caused by the launch of a special, limited-time “Starter Pack” IAP which offered players discounted in-game currency and a free character skin.

 

 

Data is provided by Sensor towers API on the app store which tracks all purchases, please bear in mind that this game isn't on Android yet, only on iOS. And all data comes directly from the States. 

 

New data is showing that this game is just crushing everything that comes in its way, not even CCS can get close.

Apple currently takes 20% cut from all the store purchases so Epic is getting a rather nice paycheck from all of this. Yes it's a free game, yes the marketing is great, yes it's literally pounding PUBG into submission.

Wow, that is crazy. Good on them for making a successful mobile port of their popular game I guess.

 

I have never played fortnite, but I hear it is pretty fun and the mobile version is pretty good as well. It is just a more kid-friendly and free version of PUBG basically.

I don't think I will ever understand why people buy skins. But I am very happy they do. As long as it is just cosmetic changes I am totally ok with it. It sounds like a very good system. Users get a Free game, and developers get paid way to go Epic Games. Congrats on making a wonderful game.

If my math is correct this crazy number only amounts to less $1.5 per user on average. 

 

What's more fascinating in this story imo is not how fortnite has become even bigger than every game before it and now also makes a shit ton of money. But rather that candy crush still manages to pull in $5.8million on a weekly basis. A six year old game! The only person I know who stills play that game is my dad.

its to keep it from being pay to win, so they add cosmetics so people can buy stuff anyway and support the devs. with such a huge player base as fortnite has this isnt that surprising id say, people spend money on skinns because they seem cheap and they are cool and stuff. kinda like buying brand clothing, only much much cheaper

To those who dont understand why wkins are a thing, its the same thing as why you want nuce clothes, shoes and other wearables. Its because you want to look good in the public eye or fit in a group.

 

Some people are paying big bucks for clothing so why should we even question why people do the same online with games they olay a lot. 

 

When a significant amount of your life is online, why shouldnt you want to create an online image of you just like what you do irl. 

 

I mean i am not saying peoole should just blow their money on skins, just saying that it should not appear any weirder than buying brand clothes where you can litterally drop 3 digit numbers on a single piece of clothing.

You get the best platform to earn money. iOS device owners are significantly more likely to spend money on apps.
