Yeah

Hello everyone,

i just ordered a Samsung 960 Evo and an Asus B350-i Gaming motherboard.

During installation of the SSD i noticed that the motherboard has an integrated cooler for it with a thermal pad already on it.

The SSD however also has a "thermal dissapating"-Sticker on it acc. to Samsung.

What should i do?

1. Leave the cooler off?

2. Remove the SSD Sticker and void warranty?

3. Remove the thermal pad on the cooler?

4. Just install the thing with the pad and the sticker?

Here are some pics:

Thanks my dudes! ♥

Every test i've seen has seen no benefit or negative impact from these NVMe coolers. unless there's actually some kind of heatsink-esque fins on the heatsink increasing surface area, or it is a waterblock, I wouldn't put it on at all.

I mean you got a nice looking black PCB SSD too, so it doesnt even look bad or anything. show off that 960

I never took the Samsung sticker off in 3 builds. Runs fine.

You should just run it without the cooling. The only SSD that ever had problems with throttling was the 950 Pro, and that was because they essentially overclocked the shit out of the controller. Every other SSD does not have these issues.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

then, test it. run something like crystaldiskmark for 5 mins, see how hot it gets with no cooler.

Then put it on and do it again. if temps are good, then keep it. if not, cry in shame cause you're gonna have to ditch the RGB

Yeah, this is the least complicated and should work fine.

Yeah. Doubt that it will overheat. I'm in a Node 202 however and it sits right next to a GTX1080 :P
