i5-8400 may retire and some new SKUs come out.

First of all, this isnt an important piece of news, just something that caught my eye.

The first half of the post is about difference between H310, H370, B360 and Z370, I'm sure you can find English posts about it. What catches my eyes is the last part, about available Coffee Lake CPUs after new chipsets are released.

Now, it's the only site I can find that mentions this, but it is an interesting decision made by Intel if it's true. In the past, CPUs already in production gets to stay with newer ones released at a later date, which leads to many i5s, i3s, Pentiums and Celerons of the same generation (especially Haswell). I guessed they are trying to make their product line less complex. but in this case only 1 Pentium Gold 

and 1 Celeron makes sense to be added, the rest shouldnt be here.

 

Also, I expected to see the T lower power chips appear, though not like anyone (not the tech news reporters at least) cared about it...

Why did it even take so much time to release these new CPUs and chipsets?It's weird how there won't be a 180$ i5, i5 8400 was very competitive when compared to ryzen.

Why would anyone want the a non K CPU with Ryzen 2 just around the corner.

This upsets me since for once I thought that Intel's line up made sense shrinking it down and eliminating all those countless useless variations of the same product much how it made no sense having the G4560 G4620 i3 7100 i3 7200 i3 7300 all being essentially the same processor just with minor tiny adjustments in frequency just to profit as much as possible from each individual silicon batch.

You realize not everyone OCs right? I mean its cool if you want your 1.5 fps increase but more cores and better single thread performance matters more.

I dont because I OCed enough PCs to not waste my time with it. The amount of work put in to make sure its stable to essentially inflating benchmark egos makes it not worth it. I mean its kind of hard to argue when a 10% increase OC is amazing yet the next gen Intel increases 10% and people say the performance is the same and whine about it which blows my mind. 

 

Still OCing wont save either Intel or AMD

Only true since 7th gen. Before that, overclocking can easily squeeze another GHz on the clock speed which is quite a lot.

I still think Ryzen 2 will have better value then the non K intel CPU's, even with out OC.

I brought an Asus Rampage IV Black Edition, put an EK full cover block on it, 3 480mm RADs and run the CPU basically at stock (stock for the motherboard settings) lol.

Not really because back at Skylake the i7 6700 already outperformed the i5 6600k easily thanks to hyper-threading since we were at the curve where finally games satured the old 4c/4t configuration with GPUs of GTX 1070 level or higher.

I only compare i7 non-K and i7 K CPUs because the price difference is usually close. If you pull the unlocked i5 in, I can argue with the i5 being much cheaper and single core performance is better than your i7 non-K.

And it probably will be. My main point is OC provides so little impact to consider it part of the value.
