Why do humans like Bread, Tomato and Cheese so much.

SuperCookie78

think about it their are a ton (at least in america) of dishes that are just a different combination of bread cheese and tomato. Pizza, Cheesesteak with Ketchup, grilled cheese and tomato soup, pasta with red sauce and graded cheese, tacos. why is this combo so wide spread?

well bread is pretty much addictive because the insulin blocks leptin ( the stuff that makes you full ) so you will keep eating, thats why you could eat 7000 calories of bread, pasta, chips, etc without realizing it.

tomatoes are if you like it then you do,but if you don't you don't. But the food industry adds a ton of sugar to Tomato sauce to make it addactive.

and well cheese, idk its tasty I guess

I don't like cheese. I don't like tomato. I'm not the hugest fan of bread, as it's merely a vessel for what's inside.

That's a wild generalization. I'd say most Chinese people don't like those things. They make up a good chunk of the planet. What's that say?

Cheese has slight morphine like properties as well as high fat and often salt content, these three properties are somewhat addictive and their combination exemplifies this.

Can I just correct this slightly
Insulin does not directly make you feel or not feel hungry.

MSG (a flavour enhancer) is naturally found in both tomatoes & cheese, which is why they taste so damn good together.

The mild acidity of tomato works very well with the fatty, creamyness of cheese. Shame getting decent tomatoes in the UK is like trying to purchase unicorn livers.

These are three very typical European foods and with America being filled with European immigrants (or great-grandchildren of) it only makes sense they eat it too.

These are products that can be made in quite big volume as well.

They also all three can fall into a healthy diet (although bread is debated if it deserves to be in there). Cheese being dairy (although milk could take its place easily).

Explain why some ingredients taste good on their own (like the high fat in cheese) does not explain why some food work well together though.

Why some ingredients work well together is currently not know, but what we do know is that in western cuisine we tend to use ingredients that share many key flavor components, which is called the "food pairing hypnosis".

That does not hold true for Asian cuisine though, as explained in this article:

https://www.nature.com/articles/srep00196

So to answer OP's question, we don't know. Flavor is a very complex thing and what we prefer to eat depends heavily on cultural as well as scientific reasons we don't fully understand.

pizza is an invention of italian farmers who didnt have anything else, so they went creative.

in essence, bread is the OG "preservable food", if well stored flour can be kept near endlessly, tomatoes are a relatively simple crop to grow, and cheese is essentially a way of preserving milk.

and on top of that, all of these are pretty tasty.

errr wat? I believe it's more the high amount of Glutamate that gives you that nice feeling of satiety that makes cheese so desired. and it's ghrelin that has an effect on insulin secretion, whereas leptin is in an antagonistic relationship with ghrelin and is mediating the feeling of satiety as well.

Bread is high carb so people seek it out.

Tomato and Cheese actually complement each other quite a bit since both have variations of the savory taste yet are distinguishable meaning they complement each other's flavors.

So there's actually quite a bit of chemistry as to why we like Pizza and Pasta so much.
