What is special about this? Not much of an older Mac guy so I have genuinely no idea and the ol' Google machine is being incredibly useless on helping me figure out what the hell it is.

Huh, interesting how it has a worse optical drive but everything else is better. Thanks for the info.

Yep it was basically marketed as a "Digital Video" Model and included a DVD Drive. When I got the iMac it still had stock memory (64MB) Which I've upped to 512MB everything else is how you see it, did include OS X 10.1 which was useless.

That's uh... Not a graphics adapter. It's a serial port expansion card.

Interesting choice of sound card considering it's not even one of the good Compaqs...

Found my old Amiga 500 with all the 'totally legit' games earlier while I was poking around.

Nice A500. Funny how the tank mouse has yellowed but the amiga chassis itself hasn't.  Time for retrobrite!

I have a pair of 1000s, a pair of 2000s, a 3000, and a 1200.  don't own any 500s yet for some reason.  I guess i can't ever find a clean one at a reasonable price.

I'm not an expert! In fact I'm usually just 1 google search ahead of you.

Most of this ain't that old but whatever, I've been using them all up till this point save for one.

PowerMac G4: One of the higher end models with 2 (Yes, TWO!!! What a concept!) PPC G4 1Ghz cpus.

Unfortunately it crapped out after its power management battery died and I can't find a replacement, but fortunately I have the following!

PowerBook G4 12": It has a 1.33Ghz CPU and 512 MB of RAM, unbelievable!

It's a little rough at the edges after it fell off a jetway (true story), but the original hdd, charger, and battery (most common points of failure) are still in great shape!

Then I got an upgrade.

MacBook 13 (Late 2007): It's white, and plastic now, not much of an upgrade I suppose? But it has two cores! On a laptop! Oh and it has 4 GB of RAM, right.

And a Samsung 850 Evo 500GB.

And a 1TB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive.

And it's just as usable today in 2018 as it was back in 2008.

Apple has changed a lot over the years.

I remember I swapped my AWE64 Gold with my uncle for his AWE32, so he could use it to record his band.

He threw it out, in the trash. Regrets. Never gonna get it back. Still have the AWE32 (with extra memory).

Remember my Voodoo2 SLI setup. Still have them. Need For Speed II SE, Rayman 2, Monstertruck madness. Yes it was madness. Lan party over serial ports. Used to have 100Mbit LAN, now have 500Mbit WAN. I miss my 64kbit cable modem. I miss the 14.4k modem because it was so much faster.

Still have the Pentium Pro. Where's my matrix printer.

Yeah I wondered why the mouse was excessively yellow, maybe sweaty hands? If I recall correctly the psu is pretty yellow as well though, would sunlight affect it that way? I think the main computer used to get covered when not in use.

I couldn't find my Atari St or this old windows 95 laptop I used to have, maybe they were thrown away/sold and I can't remember :(

This case is from an old Windows Millennial Edition Machine that I tore apart. Would be cool as a sleeper case IMO.

I made a new pc specifically for coding, yeah its probably substantially weak in terms of performance and hardware in general but its only for coding and truthfully you can do pretty decent coding on this

remember this thing?

5b88743fc7f4b_https---ancientelectronics.files.wordpress.com-2015-09-ps23028613.jpgw0h0crop1.jpg.e964a6dd854e746a13669941e0bb270d.jpg

so with that being said here are the specs of the pc i built recently...

CPU: Pentium 4 @ 3GHZ

Motherboard:  Asus P4P800-E Deluxe 865PE Motherboard

Ram: 2 GB DDR2 RAM

GPU: Geforce 8800 GTS 512 MB

Case: A really fucking old aopen case

HDD: 80 GB IDE SSD ( Woah! I didn’t expect that considering your low income! )

PSU: Antec 450w ( probably overkill but its what I had laying around so I decided to put it back to work its been lazy for a couple of years! :P )

Its all connected to the same monitor and everything its just nice having two pc’s each of them

One having linux because I fucking love linux for coding, programming, a little bit of hacking tutorials here and there just for fun and all the other pleasureful things that come with linux but since I game quite often I have a separate pc just for that running winxp. Its fucking beautiful :)

My current code projects

--------------------------------

  • C#/OpenGL ( using OpenTK graphics library API ) KnightsRealm ( unfinished, WIP plan on releasing on steam maybe a mobile port idk ) 2d topdown pixel art based game with medieval themes, sorcery, dragons, open world
  • C++ crypter ( if your into cryptography, I plan on releasing this on my website later :P
  • C#/OpenGL ( OpenGL for UI ) fan/light controller for my room w/ raspberry pi and some mechanical motors and stuff :D

Current repair projects

------------------------------

  • My dreadful receiver ( a capacitor blew )
  • working on a PC from a client, CPU died within the system, seems like a short, replaced CPU and awaiting payment before I ship it back
  • my old 1tb sas drive for my NAS, some blemishes or something on the PCB need to clear that back out, if it doesn't work i'll need to scrap it ( already backed up all my stuff thankfully )

If you want any software made, or stuff to be repaired give me an email!

I hope you got the parts for free.

To think that, once upon a time, that case may have been white.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

Well my old tech is my first pc. I found this on the way to school in 2005, and kept it cause I liked computers. I upgraded and always was tinkering around with it.

Soundblaster 16

3Dfx Voodoo 1

Ethernet card

Almost a GB of RAM

80GB HDD

Floppy

All in a HP Vectra case

Windows 98

All still works to this day

Take some pride, man! clean that thing up!

I'm not an expert! In fact I'm usually just 1 google search ahead of you.

picked up an ultra-clean Tandy 1000TL this weekend.  45mb XTA IDE (not ATA mind you) hard drive, complete with matching keyboard and monitor.  I like it when things match.
