Drake & Ninja breaks twitch.tv's highest viewer count

At 10:57pm mountain time, Drake tweeted he was playing "fort nite" with Ninja on twitch.tv/ninja

After roughly 15 minutes the stream hit over 500k viewers.

I don't believe any one streamer single handedly has reached this amount of viewers at one single time. Highest twitch view history I believe was either a CS:GO or League of Legends tournament with the same stream going over multiple channels only reaching a total of just over 1 million at one time. This streamer, although only half, is growing in viewers as the minutes pass by.

After the initial peak of up to 550k viewers at once, the stream lowered down to just shy of 540k.

---Follow up---

For those who don't know:

Fortnite is a battle royal game with artistic graphics and focuses on it's building function to provide players new ways to play and battle other players. The internet fights if it's better then PUBG but honestly it's a video game. Let people have their own tastes yeah? :)

Drake is a popular rapper with his recent hits being God's Plan, One Dance, and Hotline Bling. He only just started to hit up the gaming and streaming community the day of the stream, saying he was a fan of Ninja and wanted to play some Fortnite. After doing so many other popular guys came up and played with him.

After doing a little more research, it seems the last known record holder of most viewers on a single stream was at 388k. Drake and Ninja simply blew this out of the water within 15 minutes.

As people started to see Ninja the view count was around 200k with it reaching just under 400k before Drake tweeted about the stream.

Drake has only been playing Fortnite for about "a month or two" according to Drake but he's doing really well in the matches he's played so far.

Twitch servers are not handling it well right now on their original website (twitch.tv) on browsers, with the view count peaking at over 560k. Fortnite is at 600k viewers with League at 55k. Biggest other streamer live right now is hovering around 20k.

In one moments time, Ninja stated that people can test subscribe if they have Amazon Prime and sub with prime and then this happened: https://twitter.com/Ryan915/status/974157616619417600

He also got to play with Travis Scott, Juju, kimdotcom which just boosted his numbers but not significantly like Drake's tweet did.

Currently highest steamer count is 625k

Might not have anything to do with him. I was watching Twitch too and midway I refreshed the page only to get a black screen and no audio. Happened to every live stream at that time, and for everyone watching streams. Problem circumvented by using HTML5 player, multitwitch, Twitch mobile or desktop app.

Using the desktop app for myself worked just fine but using the original website the stream never loaded. Believe his statement on alternate ways of watching is valid.

That's actually pretty wild. It wasn't that long ago T1 set the record at 380k or something, and it's getting pretty close to being doubled.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

But twitch has issues like that all the time, wether the stream is seen by 1000 or 1 million people.

Edit: maybe thats just the streamers fault, not twitch's.

Nah the streamer is all good. Only the OG website on broswers (Chrome 100%) only loads black screens. Twitch app works perfectly fine.

I don't watch much twitch. Don't like most games, don't like the people because most of them are a bag of douches, and don't like the music people stream with it.

Like when I play PUBG and I can hear the dude's garbage music and his stream narration in the team chat... That's why you get team killed.

I dont listen to his music either. The only reason I know who he is and what his face looks like is because of this TBH. Otherwise I'd be confusing him constantly with Drake Bell (Drake n Josh FTW)

Okay yup I know that meme. Drake from Drake and Josh was actually one of the names that went through my head when I was trying to think if I knew who this was. I honestly don't know many people with the name Drake.

Sounds like a horrible time. One of the fakest, lamest "rappers" ever playing a bandwagon hype game with potato graphics.

I disagree that the graphics are "potato" They're not very demanding and they certainly aren't realistic, but they are aesthetically pleasing for a video game that runs as well as it does.

Hardly "potato" it's more optimized to allow for more users to play their game. They actually care about their game unlike other developers and push out weekly content.

This video shows what happened but watching it live was amazing. It's assumed he gained maybe 90k subs in this stream alone. 90k*$3.5= $315,000 just from subs. There was also spam of bits and donations. It was crazy. Taxes gonna screw him over tho
