Oh, maybe let's focus on maybe stuff to help with data retention and to prevent data lose. So if you don't have one yet, maybe an UPS battery backup, or a OWC Mercury Elite Pro drive enclosure to set up a raid or something. Especially if you're doing stuff for work/freelance/etc, I find this is a must.

Cosmic wise you could maybe spend something on something to hold your headphones, or maybe an adjustable arm for the mic?

Would a UPS be within my budget. I do a little freelance and some work

Maybe another fan for that radiator, because a 240mm radiator always looks lonely with only one 120mm fan. Just stay away from blowimitron.

He would have trouble even getting a 1070 with $200 in the current market.

Yes, definitely. It'll take up pretty much most if not all you're budget, but yeah. Here's an example: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/cyber-power-cyberpower-1500va-10-outlet-ups-battery-back-up-lx1500gu-fc-lx1500gu-fc/10383225.aspx

Now you wouldn't need necessarily a 1500VA UPS, but if you're away and you're not home, it'll keep you PC powered for hours about half an hour (thanks Revamp!)  if power goes. So yeah, I would recommend something between 1000-1500VA and look for the best deal.

Yeah it is now worth $420-$430 on the used market and a 1070 is worth $650 new.

A 1500VA ups will not run his PC for hours unfortunately. at a 200w load, a 1500va will last for 36minutes. that's not counting whatever else is plugged into it like monitors, modem/router, or whatever it may be.
